چکیده

Variation in the pore structure of eucalyptus fibre during recycling was investigated using low-temperature nitrogen adsorption, atomic force microscopy (AFM), and fractal geometry. The BrunauerEmmett-Teller (BET) surface area of the fibre fell to 55.1% of the original value after the first cycle, and to 49.0% after the second cycle, ultimately declining to 35.0% after the fourth. The Barret-JoynerHalenda (BJH) adsorption cumulative pore volume fell to 38.4% of the original by the fourth. After four cycles, the average pore diameter fell to 82% of the original. AFM tests showed that the pore structure in fibre expressed high self-similarity in statistics, and the pore structure in the fibre could be regarded as a fractal. Fractal geometry analysis of the results showed that the fractal dimension of eucalyptus virgin fibre is 2.954. With the number of process cycles increasing, the fractal dimension fell to a minimum of 2.886 after four cycles. The water retention value (WRV) of the fibre was proportional to the fractal dimension and the crystallinity of fibre.

An Investigation on the Parameters Influencing the Pounding in Highway Bridges

The present aim of this study is to investigate the effect of different parameters influencing pounding in highway bridges. Pounding is the result of a collision between two parts of the deck and/or the deck and abutments at the separation distance during the earthquake.  In the present study, the period ratio of the adjacent frames, ground motion spatial variation, and soil-structure interacti...

Effect of Nonlinear Phase Variation in Optical Millimetre Wave Radio over Fibre Systems

In this paper, we propose an optical millimetre wave radio-over-fibre (mm-wave RoF) system that uses a dual drive Mach Zehnder modulator (DD-MZM), which is biased at the maximum transmission biasing point, to generate an optical double sideband-suppressed carrier. The input to the DD-MZM are binary phase shift keying (BPSK), quadrature phase shift keying (QPSK), 8-phase shift keying (8-PSK) and...

Investigation of the Effect of Atmosphere on the Pores of Sintered Astaloy CrM Steel

Abstract Image analysis is used to study the effect of sintering atmosphere and sintering times on the pores morphology of Astaloy CrM. The pores morphology was described by means of some parameters, Circular Diameter (DC)- which shows the diameter of equivalent circle for comparing the pore size, FElongation and FShape- which have different geometrical meanings. The results have been interpret...

An Investigation of Asphaltene Deposition Mechanisms During Natural Depletion Process by a Two Phase Modeling Using Genetic Algorithm Technique

In this work, the natural depletion process in sandstone and carbonate cores was modeled to investigate the asphaltene deposition mechanisms. A new permeability reduction correlation was proposed based on the Minssieux model that considers a combination of surface deposition, pore throat plugging, and filtration cake mechanisms. The results showed that the filtration cake is a dominant asphalte...
